PSX Mid-Day: Red All Around

July 14, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained under intense selling pressure by midday on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index extending its steep decline as investors reacted to escalating geopolitical tensions and a sharp surge in global oil prices.

Market sentiment deteriorated afterPresident Donald Trump said Washington would impose a 20% shipping fee on cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz and reinstate a blockade of Iranian ports, stoking fears of fresh disruptions to global crude supplies.

The latest developments intensified concerns over inflationary pressures and economic uncertainty, prompting broad-based selling across the market.

As of 12:02pm, the benchmark KSE-100 Index stood at 175,204.35, down 4,722.69 points or 2.62%.

The index traded in a range of 2,972.88 points, touching an intraday  low of 175,139.16 (-4,787.88 points).


The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 190.93 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies, 6 advanced while 94 declined.

Top losers during the session were GHNI (-8.41%), GAL (-6.75%), MLCF (-6.73%), SNGP (-6.34%), and JVDC (-6.32%).

In terms of index-point contributions, UBL (-460.34pts), FFC (-312.73pts), LUCK (-268.48pts), ENGROH (-265.12pts), and HBL (-228.35pts) exerted the biggest drag on the benchmark.

Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was weighed down by Commercial Banks (-1,465.11pts), Cement (-729.39pts), Fertilizer (-444.58pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-350.21pts), and Investment Banks / Investment Companies / Securities Companies (-309.34pts).
