- Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan and the United States are close to concluding a crucial trade agreement as negotiations in Washington entered their final phase. Both sides expressed optimism that the deal would pave the way for a broader and more strategic economic partnership.
- Pakistan’s current account balance recorded a surplus of over 2 billion dollars in the last fiscal year (FY25) for the first time in 14 years, driven by a substantial increase in workers’ remittances. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday reported that Pakistan has achieved a current account surplus of $2.1 billion in FY25 as against a deficit of $2.1 billion in the previous year (FY24).
- Pakistan’s real effective exchange rate (REER) fell to 96.6 in June, down from 97.8 in the previous month, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) released on Friday.
